Job Shadowing

Horizon provides one-day job shadowing experiences for individuals who have researched their career interests and want to gain deeper insight by observing professionals and asking questions. This opportunity is self-directed and not part of a school requirement. Shadowing sessions can range from one hour to a full work shift.

High school students must coordinate their job shadowing request through a teacher, guidance counselor, or school administration, who will submit the formal request on their behalf.

High School Student

The applicant – a high school student – is actively researching a career of interest in the health care industry and seeks to gain further clarity by observing and asking questions. To make the most of a job shadowing experience, the applicant must be well prepared, approach the visit with intention, and be ready to engage in meaningful dialogue with Horizon staff about the profession they wish to observe.

Student/Learner

The application  – a post-secondary student, learner, or graduate – is actively researching a career of interest in the health care industry and seeks to gain further clarity by observing and asking questions. To make the most of a job shadowing experience, the applicant must be well-prepared and approach the visit with intention, and be ready to engage in meaningful dialogue with Horizon staff about the profession they wish to observe.

Prospective Employee

The applicant – a prospective employee – who is actively exploring employment opportunities with Horizon seeks to gain valuable insight into their potential role by observing daily operations and engaging in meaningful discussions with Horizon staff.
